Founded in the late 1940s, the New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ) is a statewide association of over 2,700 people. The varied membership includes attorneys in private practice as well as public service, paralegals, law clerks, law students, and law school graduates not yet admitted to the bar. NJAJ is dedicated to protecting, educating, and advocating regarding New Jersey’s laws on safer products and workplaces, a cleaner environment, and quality health care.
The Boardwalk Seminar is held annually and offers attorneys the opportunity to earn a year’s worth of CLE credits over the three days of the event. The seminar always features outstanding local and regional speakers along with top national speakers. Participants can choose to focus on a single track the entire time. Alternatively, they can attend a broader swath of speeches and panels. Some of the most popular tracks include Personal Injury, Mass Torts, Ethics, and Technology.
The seminar is a perfect opportunity to showcase your company while meeting prospective clients face-to-face. Indeed, the seminar has a history of over 1,800 attendees. This includes a heavy contingent of trial lawyer members who represent individuals as plaintiffs in actions ranging from automobile accidents to medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, products liability, family law, employment law, and more.
This was our first time at the Seminar, and it was fantastic. The NJAJ membership made us feel so welcome. Noreen Cournoyer and her team put on a great event and we also greatly appreciate Cornelius Larkin and George White stopping by our booth to spend time with us. Thanks to all of the great engagement with prospective clients and colleagues, we learned a few things along the way that we’d like to share with you:
1. The NJAJ membership is ready to talk. If you attend any NJAJ events, bring a big bottle of water and prepare yourself for some highly engrossing and interactive discussions. Though they did love our ribbons, this is not a population that just grabs their swag and leaves. They stop and actually talk, which is all you can ask for at a showcase like this.
2. The showroom floor is L-shaped. Depending upon your needs, you can choose from a variety of booth options that might be appropriate. There were locations with heavy in-and-out traffic, while other booths were positioned to take advantage of a smaller concentration of attendees near targeted sessions. At registration time, it’s important to be prepared to pick your prime spot.
3. In addition to networking, many or most attendees were there to earn CLE credits. If you find yourself in need, we recommend considering this show to earn those CLEs while interacting with peers in your field. It’s always nice to fulfill multiple professional responsibilities simultaneously and efficiently.
4. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the appealing setting. Take some time to get out and experience the boardwalk and area. Locals agree that the Bridgewater Mall is still the best mall in Central New Jersey. And don’t forget to bring back some salt water taffy for your crew!
GrowPath in Jersey
New Jersey is an experience all its own. Upon arriving at the airport, our team was interviewed by Action News reporter George Solis for the 4:30 news. The interview wasn’t related to the Seminar, but the surprise interaction did highlight the bustling vibrancy of the boardwalk region.
As we made our way around, we discovered that turn signals are a sign of weakness there. Don’t expect to see them used; instead, it’s best to just hit the pedal and go! Speaking of acceleration, our favorite part of being in New Jersey was demonstrating to our booth visitors how GrowPath could help them run their firms from the fast lane.
Throughout the conference, we were excited and gratified to present on how our integrated case management software is benefiting law firms all over the nation. Did you miss our booth?
