Jim Farrin
Founder
Lawyer by trade. Businessman by nature. Driven to innovate. Jim Farrin is Founder and President of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin — one of the largest and most successful plaintiffs’ practices in the Southeast.
Some would suggest the firm is among the most successful plaintiffs’ practices in the nation. That claim, in large part, is based on the exponential growth the law firm has achieved since it began with one employee and 20 clients in 1997.
Since then, it has recovered over $1.2 billion in gross for over 50,000 clients. And that’s not counting the $1.25 billion it had a lead role in recovering in a historic class action lawsuit against the United States government for discriminating against 18,400 farmers.
Jim’s Philosophy
One of the things Jim set out to do when he built the firm was to provide quality legal representation while operating a firm that mass-marketed effectively and ran efficiently. What he has learned is that data, not feelings or impressions, is needed to drive decisions. And his firm long ago discovered that growth and productivity come from operational efficiencies.
Yet, for many years, the case management software available to his firm and most firms was mediocre and cumbersome. It was also unable to keep up with his firm’s needs.
“We think a lot about how to do everything,” Jim says. “For example, we analyze every step in our processes to see if we can do things more accurately, efficiently, and faster. In addition, we want the key case information right in front of us when we pull up a case, and our managers want to be able to track all of the critical workflow so that we can make sure that what needs to get done, gets done, on time.
”To run cases more efficiently and manage its firm more effectively, the Farrin team decided to build a better mousetrap. So they created their own case management software, and that’s how GrowPath was born.
